Description

This 18-hour training is based on Choice Theory and is facilitated by Dr. GSmith Cissé.  Dr. Cissé has more than 16 years experience facilitating groups for individuals who have committed family violence offenses but more importantly she believes it is possible to end interpersonal violence through training and advocacy.  She has developed this training that includes not only Choice Theory but theories of change based on her work with individuals who have been victimized by DV and those who have committed offenses against others.  This training can lead towards certification by GCFV and participants will have an opportunity to be certified through SCCT.

DAY 1 OBJECTIVE:
BY THE END OF DAY ONE OF PARTICIPANTS HAVE A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF THE HISTORY OF THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCACY MOVEMENT IN THE! BRIEF REVIEW OF CHOICE THEORY, SOCIAL LEARNING THEORY, PROCESSES, AND KEY CONCEPTS RELATED TO FACILITATING GROUPS FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE COMMITTED FAMILY VIOLENCE OFFENSES.

DAY 2 OBJECTIVE:
BY THE END OF DAY TWO OF THIS TRAINING PARTICIPANTS WILL UNDERSTAND AND EXPLAIN CONNECTING HABITS, GIASSER’S SOLVING CIRCLE, P.A.U.S.E., EMOTIONAL REGULATION, TACTICS OF NEUTRALIZATION, AND OTHER KEY ELEMENTS OF THE CHOOSING PEACE CURRICULUM.

DAY 3 OBJECTIVE:
BY END OF DAY THREE PARTICIPANTS WILL UNDERSTAND FACILITATOR CHARACTERISTICS, TOTAL BEHAVIOR AND ITS RELEVANCE TO THIS TRAINING; SELF-REGULATION/CO-REGULATION AND PRACTICE USING THE TECHNIQUES INCLUDED IN THIS TRAINING.
